3 Reasons Why New Year’s Resolutions Don’t Stick And How To Change Them
Have you ever made a New Years Resolution to get healthy, find love, or move forward in some profound way only to give up after a few months or weeks?
Why is it so difficult to change old habits?
Why can’t the changes you want in your life come easy?
I have had these challenges and so have many of my clients. Only when we have moved out of our own way and understood these three reasons why New Year’s Resolutions don’t stick are we able to overcome and be successful.
1. Lack of passion. The reason you want to make a profound change in your life is your “why”. If your why has passion and meaning to you, then it has power. Awakening your why is how you can put power behind your intention and have success in anything you set out to accomplish.
2. Too many obstacles. We create our own obstacles. Doubt, fear, overwhelm, impatience, grasping, expectation, there are so many clever ways we get in our own way. Our beliefs, thoughts, and emotions hold the keys to our successes or failures. Uncovering beliefs that limit our potential, eliminating distracting thoughts, and neutralizing emotions is how we remove obstacles to ensure success.
3. Weak will. Where there is a will there is a way. The will is fueled by the solar plexus (the abdominal region of the body) and has untaped strength that can propel us forward. Everyone has this strength they only need to know how to ignite this fire and learn to use it as the tool it was meant for; blazing through madness and adversity.
Making profound changes is not impossible. With a clear understanding of how you can awaken your "why", remove obstacles, and ignite your will, keeping your New Year’s Resolution or ANY commitment you make to yourself is easily accomplished.
