Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Jen Chenette WORK PHOTO.jpg

I have been a licensed clinical social worker for over 25 years.  I was born and raised in New Jersey.  I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Boston University and my master’s degree in Social Work at New York University.

I have worked in a geriatric assessment center, a large outpatient mental health center, an elementary school, an alternative high school, and a private practice.

I am licensed in New Jersey, Georgia, and Texas.

I work from a cognitive behavioral perspective – the way you think affects the way you feel, the way you feel affects how you behave.  Every human being has fallen victim to negative thought patterns at one point or another.  It’s what you do with those negative thoughts that matters.  If you can change the way you think, you can change the way you feel – it’s that simple.  Daily gratitude and mindfulness are excellent tools to help you along the way.  A good sense of humor is also important.

A favorite quote of mine is:

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself but to your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”  ~ Marcus Aurelius (a really old Roman Emperor who was wise beyond the time period he lived in)

We have this one life to live (as far as we know!) and all we can really control is our own little sphere of existence - ourselves, our thoughts, and how we interact with those around us.  I would be honored to walk with you on your path to peace and contentment.

GET TO KNOW ME:

  • I have lived in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, South Carolina, Georgia, and now Texas.

  • I have been with my husband for over 30 years – and he still makes me laugh.  We have 3 kids and with this last relocation we had to leave the two oldest behind at college in Georgia.  All 3 of them have played competitive soccer their entire lives.

  • I love dogs, and my last two have been standard poodles adopted from Carolina Poodle Rescue.

  • I was born and raised at the Jersey Shore – nothing makes me happier than sand, sunshine, and salt water.  I am an avid collector of seashells and sea glass.
