Cristina Blackwood

Yoga Instructor

I am a Christ follower, wife, mother, and entrepreneur. I have an amazingly supportive husband and three beautiful daughters. I became a mother young, having my first daughter at 19 and understand the struggles of being a full-time single mom until marrying my husband in 2016. We have a beautiful blended family and our youngest daughter turned one year old December 2019.

The journey that has led to my career in wellness has been a great learning experience and I truly feel called to uplift my community through the practice of yoga. Prior to becoming a certified instructor I worked in the oil and gas industry. However, I desired something else, wanting to achieve a more ideal work-life balance with my children. I have always enjoyed fitness (yoga, running, kickboxing, and weightlifting) and I have a very active family. In 2019, I took a leap of faith and decided to turn my hobby into a profession, starting my own business, True TRIbe Yoga. True TRIbe is a social enterprise that puts 10% of all profits into the True TRIbe Yoga Outreach Project which provides trauma-informed yoga at non-profits in the Houston area at no cost.

I pride myself on being a dedicated upbeat fitness enthusiast and consider myself both a committed yoga instructor and continually growing practitioner. I am genuine in my practice and look for new ways to not only uplift and teach my students but to grow my own yoga experience as well. I offer a judgement-free mat, an opportunity to foster a positive relationship with the body and breath, and tools to empower you- body, mind, and soul. Yoga is a beautiful and healing physical art and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to uplift my community through its practice. I have trained with the Institute for Spirituality and Health, Bizzie Gold's BUTI Yoga program, and Yoga Outreach- located in British Columbia. I enjoy teaching several styles of yoga including Trauma-informed yoga, BUTI, Hatha, Vinyasa, Faith-based yoga, and Power yoga.

Little extras about myself:

- I have a Bachelors in International Studies with a Minor in Japanese and Master's Degree in International Affairs

- I LOVE to travel all around the world

- My favorite activities are yoga, kickboxing, weightlifting and running

I hope to meet you on your mat and help further your journey in personal growth and healing!
