Carly Janak is a registered and licensed dietitian nutritionist with a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin. Carly has worked in a private practice setting for over 7 years and has also worked in a PRN position with eating disorder treatment centers at an Intensive Outpatient level of care. She is passionate about helping her clients to feel informed and empowered in their relationship with food and their body. With additional training in motivational interviewing, Carly is an expert at identifying a client’s motivation, supporting them in overcoming barriers to success, and helping them create sustained behavior change and, in turn, create a more fulfilling life. Carly takes a Health at Every Size aligned approach and incorporates Intuitive Eating into to all of her sessions. Through these lenses we can approach any nutrition related problems with care and consideration for each individual’s autonomy and unique needs in mind.

Carly’s areas of specialization and expertise include eating disorders (including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder, Avoidant/Restriction Food Intake Disorder, Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder), disordered eating such as chronic dieting, general healthy eating, pediatric nutrition, supporting parents and caretakers in feeding children and families, family feeding dynamics, fueling athletes for success, and Medical Nutrition Therapy for hypertension, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes and other nutrition related diagnosis.

With over 5 years of experience working with eating disorders, I’ve completed continuing education in and worked with clients and mental health practitioners utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Family-Based Treatment, and the Internal Family Systems model.

In our first session together we will review your health and nutrition history, taking into account medical diagnosis and family history, we will explore your history with both food and movement, discuss your goals both big and small, and start to lay the ground work for evidenced based and research supported nutrition knowledge. In follow-up sessions we will continue to build on that nutrition education, dive deeper into the goals you are truly motivated to move towards, and create a sense of trust in your body. Every client is provided with a unique wellness plan based on their specific needs and goals and ultimately my goal is to help you feel like the expert of your own body.
